MALTA, N.Y. – Will Hull earned his third victory of the USAC Dirt Midget Ass’n season during Friday’s event at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
With the green flag displayed the field took off into turn one, but it would quickly be halted as Jeff Champagne and Wayne Kohler would tangle, which brought out the caution flag.
On the restart, fifth-place starter Seth Carlson went low and then high, taking over the lead from Manny Diaz by the time lap one ended. Diaz was now in second, followed closely by a fast-closing Hull.
It was not long before Hull would move into the lead, taking the top spot on lap three. The caution flag waved again on the fourth circuit when Wayne Kohler spun on the frontstretch and hit the wall.
With the green flag waving again, Hull and Carlson were still in the top-two spots with Jason Goff soon moving into third. The caution flag waved again on lap 11 as Tim West spun and came to rest in turn two.
When the race resumed Goff fell off the pace, the victim of electrical issues, opening the door for Joe Krawiec to move into third. The caution flag waved again on lap 15 when West went for a second spin.
Hull maintained the lead over Carlson during the restart, a position he held for the final 10 laps to pick up the victory. Carlson and Krawiec completed the podium.
