DUQUOIN, Ill. – The fifth annual Shamrock Classic presented by Dooling Machine will have an added dimension this year for the winged 600cc micro sprints.

The winged micros will compete over two nights, March 6-7, on the indoor dirt oval at the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin.

Micro competitor entry is now open for the event at this link, with a deadline of Feb. 28 to reserve a pit stall.

On the opening night, Friday, March 6, the micro format will include timed hot laps followed by heat races and dashes. That leads into the March 7 finale, which will coincide with the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget Series Midwest opener.

The midgets will compete in a full program Saturday, while the micros will begin with their B-mains and conclude with the $750-to-win A-main.

For just $5, fans can witness Friday’s racing program at the Southern Illinois Center.  Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Adult general admission tickets are $5 apiece, while kids age 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $25 each.

A two-day pit pass deal can be purchased for $55.

Saturday Shamrock Classic tickets are now on sale at shamrockclassicduquoin.com.  General admission tickets are $20 for age 13 and up. Children’s general admission tickets (for ages six through 12) are $10. Kids 5 and under are free.

Reserved seats are $25 and include a Shamrock Classic t-shirt with purchase, an offer available through Feb. 7. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on race day.

Pit passes are available at the door on event day for $35 as well. For those who purchase reserved seats, those can be upgraded to a pit pass at the door.

On Friday, the building opens at noon CT, with the driver’s meeting at 6 p.m. and hot laps at 6:30 p.m., followed by heats and dashes.

For Saturday, the building opens at 8 a.m., followed by the micro drivers meeting at 3:30 p.m. CT. Midget hot laps are slated for 4 p.m. and will be immediately followed by the micro B-mains and A-main prior to the resumption of the USAC Midget program.

The USAC midget slate will be headlined by a 50-lap main event. Cannon McIntosh is the defending winner of the Shamrock Classic.
