HARRISBURG, Ark. – Mark Smith took his ninth United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters win in 10 tries this season on Friday night at Old No. 1 Speedway.
Smith, from Sunbury, Pa., raced to victory from the outside pole and beat two-time series champion Jordon Mallett to the checkered flag in the 30-lap feature.
Friday night’s race was the opening round of the annual USCS Sprint Speedweek. It was also Smith’s 24th career series victory and extended his lead atop the point standings.
Kyle Amerson, Hall of Famer Danny Smith and Max Stambaugh were third through fifth, respectively.
Another two-time USCS champion, Morgan Turpen, finished sixth ahead of Brad Bowden, Landon Britt, Connor Leoffler and Jeff Oliver.
Thirty-three cars were on hand for the Speedweek opener.
